For this week I worked on the main hero assets that were assigned to me. I got the Main Kite that the main character Ahki flies. I also modeled the spool/bridle separately. I wanted to make her kite different from the others, bigger in size but still simple. I looked into the "anatomy" of a kite, the sticks, and fins as well. I began the variations of the kites, some are longer, some are shorter, wider, etc. I want the main kite to stand out but still keep the others unique. Next week I will have the kite variations finished and UV'ed.

Storywise, we discussed some ideas regarding the confusion with the village. I suggested that we create a schoolhouse rather than a destroyed village, that way its less complicated. I also mentioned having a dichotomy between the kites and children and the bird. Initially the group decided on a "textile" "papercraft" look for the bird, but as mentioned at the last Production Review the bird was not intimidating enough. I pointed out that the textiles represent the children and kites better and the bird should oppose that with a more hard metallic look. That way it can enhance the visual language. This is a frame I made for the colorscript/animatic.

Additionally, next week I will create some illustrated designs for the modular village houses and buildings. This image is an example of what I will be going for.
