This week I primarily focused on modeling some clothes for the main character of our short. I wanted to have decent topology, as well as a design that would be easy to rig and appropriate for the setting and time. I settled on a simple salwar kameez, a scarf orna, and some pants with a bell-like end. I made sure to model simple folds as well, we intend on simming nCloth.

For the rest of the week, I worked on the layout animatic, which I rendered T-posed models in the environments we have. We want the shots to be cinematic, have movement, and flow well together. Since we do not have a rig yet, I extracted the geometry on the hands, arms, knees, and feet and set keyframes to give it a feeling of movement. I referenced a lot of shots from Kubo and the Two Strings, and Breadwinner for the shot composition. I found a lot of fantastic resources, there was this cartoon I used to watch as a child Meena which took place in Bangladesh directed by Hannah Barbera and UNICEF, which provided a lot of reference for the village and shots. I finished laying out and rendering the mustard field scene, as well as the kite building scene. I started the kite fight with the bird scene on Friday and hope to finish it next week. An issue I ran into was rendering out shots in interior/low light conditions, so instead I playblasted them or I turned up the emission on all the textures.
