After being out sick for a week and a half I haven't been the most productive but I spent most of this week focusing on look dev for the individual shots with Bianca. Our fear is having the grass on the ground plane look like "arm hairs sticking out" so we are trying to mitigate that creatively.





Here's a quick demo of the alphas I created. We closely observed some shots from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and saw how they did grass and it appeared to be 2D alpha cards. I created some grass variations that can be instanced in the scene and textured using Maya's node based shading techniques such as ramps.
